RankProof, open source
See your visibility. Check the evidence.
Explore search results and backlinks from open sources. Verify links in the source page’s HTML and turn findings into a practical next step.
git clone https://github.com/CometWeb-io/rankproof.git Release 8.1.0 Licence MIT Node.js 22+, web UI, CLI and HTTP API
What it does
From a discovered link to its source.
RankProof builds its analysis on data you can inspect. Source, context and measurement availability come first, the number comes last.
Backlinks
A backlink is more than a URL.
Check whether the page actually contains the link. Inspect its anchor, rel attribute and placement to understand the finding in context.
- Verification in source HTML
- Anchor and link attributes
- Content, navigation or footer
Bing, DuckDuckGo, Mojeek
Visibility with search engine context.
Check positions across Bing, DuckDuckGo, Mojeek and optionally Brave. Set a market and device. A blocked measurement stays visible as a gap.
- Market and device selection
- Scan history and position changes
- Search Console for your own property
Site structure
Connect links to work on your site.
Inspect internal links, redirects and canonical conflicts. Save the result as a report or as data for your next step.
- Internal link graph
- Redirects, canonicals and orphan candidates
- HTML, JSON and CSV exports
How it works
From install to report.
- Run it locally Node.js 22+ and npm run dev. The app runs on localhost:8080.
- Set domain and market Pick a domain, market and device, then start a scan.
- Check the sources Discovered links are checked against the source page’s HTML. Blocks stay visible.
- Export the result An HTML, JSON or CSV report, with history to compare later scans.
Installation
Run it on your own computer.
Without DATABASE_URL the app uses embedded PGLite, so scan history needs no separate database server. The development server binds to localhost.
- Node.js 22 or newer
- Optional DATABASE_URL for Postgres
- Optional Search Console for your property
git clone https://github.com/CometWeb-io/rankproof.git
cd rankproof
npm ci
npm run dev The same project in your terminal.
npm run cli -- scan example.com --market us --format json --out report.jsonLimits
Open sources cover part of the web.
Results depend on available sources and provider blocks. Google data from Search Console covers a property you control.
- Open sources only, with no commercial backlink index
- Traffic and difficulty are model estimates
- Google organic results need a separately configured provider
- A link missing from the results may simply be undiscovered
Code and docs
Everything lives in the repository.
No. It discovers data in open sources and verifies links. It does not promise the completeness of a commercial index or equivalent metrics.
Yes. Without DATABASE_URL the project uses embedded PGLite. You can start locally and keep scan history.
Search Console provides data for a property you control. Google organic results need a separately configured provider.
